The LMU Japan Center is dedicated to the study and research of Japan, with a focus on language, literature, history and cultural history, religion and philosophy, society, politics and economy of Japan, which is reflected in the specialties of our academic staff.

The Japan Center welcomes students to our BA program in Japanese Studies, the MA program in Japanese Studies, and – in collaboration with other Asian Studies Institutes – the joint MA program “Religion and Philosophy in Asia”. Moreover, we offer the opportunity for you to pursue a doctorate (Dr. phil.) in Japanese Studies.
